Vitamin D Reduces Bone Loss For Breast Cancer Patients

If you're taking aromatase inhibitors after having treatment for estrogen-sensitive breast cancer, you may want to add some Vitamin D to your pill stash.? Many aromatase inhibitors contribute to the progress of osteoporosis - bone loss - as well as preventing a recurrence of breast cancer.? A small study done with 156 postmenopausal women found that patients who took Vitamin D or D3 as well as calcium while taking Aromasin, Arimidex, or Femara had less bone density loss than patients who did not use Vitamin D or bisphosphonate drugs (Fosamax, Evista).

"The bone loss was less, the higher your vitamin D level was maintained," said researcher Dr. Thomas J. Smith of Massey Cancer Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. "This is one of the first intervention studies," Smith said. "And the results are pretty striking." Dr. Smith worked with Dr. Sonia Servitja of Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, Spain to monitor Vitamin D concentrations and bone loss.? The women in the study were evaluated at the beginning of their aromatase inhibitor therapy, and again at three months and at the one-year mark.

Breast cancer patients who took Vitamin D in doses larger than 400 to 800 IU/day had less bone loss than the average patient on aromatase inhibitors.? Higher doses of Vitamin D, taken with calcium (1 g) resulted in better bone health.? Drs. Smith and Servitja presented the results of their study at the American Society of Clinical Oncology's annual meeting.

Dr. explained that "some cancer cells are fed by the healthy cells, we have an agent., which allows you to block that is Metforminawspólne of the medicines used to treat diabetes. "When asked how to help breast cancer patients, replied," "the potential benefit is that stops cancer cell powered by Normal cells and cancer cells will not grow."Dr. Howell also noted that Metformin is relatively inexpensive, particularly in comparison to standard drugs.

Women who are diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer may be tested whether someday Metformin stops growth and recurrence of their cancer, if their tumor responds to drugs, then diabetes may take personalized treatment, based in particular on the nature of the tumor and the fuel required to grow Dr. Howell said, "this is a terrifically exciting. It is a step in the direction of having each patient get the right treatment for them-what is personalized medicine. We are looking for a new way to dispense the patient on the basis of which should correspond to the treatment we have, and which may be something else. "

Parsley is important in the fight against breast cancer

Humble green, parsley, which is used for decoration is suddenly a star dinner plate., recent research shows that apigenin-compounds in parsley and celery-stop some cells from multiplying and growing tumor of breast cancer does not prevent breast cancer. Apigenin from developing, but it may prevent tumor angiogenesis by blocking a synthetic progesterone.

Dr. Salman Hyder, who studies of tumor angiogenesis in laboratory animals, found that rats with breast cancer, breast cancer, grew less if they are consumed, parsley, celery, apples, oranges and nuts, including apigenin. rats in this study are also exposed to the hormone replacement therapy (HRT)-synthetic hormones prescribed to alleviate the symptoms of menopause. about 10 million women in America, HRT. Dr. Hyder, "we knowthat certain synthetic hormones in HRT to accelerate the development of the tumor of the breast. In our study we exposed rats to one of the chemicals used in the most common HRTs, adopted in the United States — progesterone called medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA)-who is also the same synthetic hormones, which speeds up the development of tumor of the breast. "

Breast tumours need blood supply and nutrients, to keep themselves and grow you can hijack their tumors. blood supply by creating their own system of blood vessels, funny circulation their life-giving oxygen and food into healthy tissue once the current nutrition for tumors, their growth and the spread is more difficult to combat. oncologists use Avastin (Bevacizumab) and targeted biological therapies in combination with the chemotherapy drugs to the tumor angiogenesis.

How much of the curly green decoration should we eat? Dr. Hyder explains that we absorb apigenin very effectively from eating parsley and celery to the next study on quantity of apigenin, which would be effective for the time being., he says, "but it seems that maintain a minimum level of apigenin in blood it is important to delay the onset of breast cancer, which shall act in response to (synthetic) were, for example, MPA (medroxyprogesterone acetate). It is probably a good idea to eat every day a little parsley and some fruit to ensure a minimum amount. "Dr. Hyder study was recently published in the research, prevention of cancer.

Some simple ways to get a daily dose of parsley or celery would Bowl tabouli (you get a bonus of whole grains!), fresh pasta with Walnut parsley pesto or beautiful omega-3 rich portions of the parsley crusted salmon. Dr. Haider found "we know HRT use synthetic hormone breast tumor development. Our research shows that we in the United States exposed-medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), called estrogen-also breast tumor development acceleration such as synthetic hormones, which happens to be the most common Hrts received use chemicals in one of the rats. Breast tumor blood supply and nutrients to maintain yourself and grow to create life. tumor giving food and healthy tissue. tumors for nutrition once a steady stream of oxygen in the blood vessel bypass the circulation of their own system is established, by spreading their growth and your blood supply makes it harder to combat. Oncologists hijack use Avastin (Bevacizumab) and chemotherapy drugs tumor angiogenesis with targeted in the prevention of biological therapy.

However, so how curly green decoration should we eat of him? Dr. Haider we very efficiently just parsley and celery. effective that. now, he says, the amount of apigenin more eating plan to study at apigenin does not absorb the description, it appears in the bloodstream apigenin's minimum level is important to keep the MPA (like the (composite) Huang in response to the onset of breast cancer progress delay "medroxyprogesterone acetate). It's probably a little parsley and eating some fruit every day for at least the amount of a good idea to check. Some elderly breast cancer patients don't get the full treatment

Women above age 66 with metastatic breast cancer does not always produce a complete range of treatments post mastectomy fashion. A study done at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston showed that almost half of all senior women with advanced breast disease does not get radiation therapy after their surgery.

The researchers sifted through data from more than 38,000 66 women who had a mastectomy between 1999 and 2005. In the group that has been studied, 8,000 patients had metastatic breast cancer, but less than 4,000 had radiation in addition to surgery. Guidelines recommend that the radiation will be offered to women with advanced disease after a mastectomy were published during the six years that this study covered. So experts recognized that the benefits of radiation for breast cancer, even after removal of a breast-remember that the chest wall and the lymph nodes may be affected, but many women did not get additional treatment. Dr. Benjamin Smith, co-author on this study, considered the possible reasons behind these results.

Many patients may have been offered, but decided not to take it. Before the guidelines were published, more considered radiation oncologists to be ineffective after a mastectomy. So a historical bias against radiation post mastectomy fashion may have resisted additional treatment for some women. In other cases, women who were more than 80 years seemed to be less likely to get radiation after breast surgery. These patients are considered to be trade-offs between quality of life and longevity and decided that life for six or more weeks of radiation-more recovery time-it doesn't seem like their best choice which women may not have lived within close range to a clinic of radiation, then drive or staying in a hotel during the treatment may not be an option. Cost of treatment and access to health insurance could also be a factor.

If you were age 66 or older with the diagnosis, you want the full range of treatments for advanced breast cancer? or you prefer to stick with the basic surgery and chemotherapy that many patients opt for? What influenced your decision? Please leave your comments below.

Discrimination of Breast Cancer Survivors

Durham, North Carolina, the mother of two young people, Alaina Giordano stage 4 breast cancer, with the former husband, give up their children. His health and finances were the reason for the decision of the judge-in one.

On the coast of the Korean Airlines Seattle turned Mimi Kim, metastatic breast cancer in the milk of the patient, who wanted to return to his place of birth only to spend his last months in the year of the family. Mrs. Kim looked too frail to survive the flight according to the Korean Air, Delta Airlines, I looked over the. in his note to the doctor, and upgraded to Mrs. Kim first class and flew to his home.

Ruth Ann Swenson, soprano with the Metropolitan Opera in the past had a leading role in the initial stage after his cancer diagnosis in breast milk., his stamina after he recovered, Mrs. Swenson toured in Europe and America, will be displayed in the loss of his voice is not quality.

Chicago Windy City to Mary Ellen went to renew his Hintz housing lease, the landlord, and was told her that since she has Terminal breast cancer, he can have only one month at the time of the lease, the landlord Mrs.. Hintz said he thought his treatments to cause such serious chemobrain, that he is not lucid enough to sign contracts or pay his bills.

Sometimes, when discrimination, it seems that it is really talking about real money, may have information about the for fear of, as a matter of priority. modern society is not good Cancerophobiaapproaches. even with the cancer in the prices as high as they are, sometimes, it seems like the average person does not know to react to a friend or coworker, or support of, or even recently was diagnosed with breast cancer, some women feel. spouse shunned their friends, as if they've suddenly become contagious or doing something immoral, cancer was born.

I believe that it will become the ultimate: the for fear of death. Despite decades of awareness, training, improved treatments for patients, and to the survival of a higher standing, this seems to be the notion that a diagnosis of cancer in the breast milk is the automatic death sentence. "-and that can be linked to all the breast milk, eat similar 234 to 242 above (they are), and all of the treatments are serious and clear (it varies).

We are like a trained breast cancer patients and survivors is our forecast, we can deal with our daily. fears we all possible outcomes, side effects, our economy and the construction of each of the connections of the day., the airline employees, separate the lawyers and the Opera directors seem to have other priorities in cancer survivors in the breast milk, as the case may be.-regardless of what stage they should not fight-rights and permissions, which are provided free to the people who appear to be healthier, we should have a lawyer up and back to the battle against the kouluttamatonta cancerphobes.

So you do not know can certainly be a cancer patient and competent, and is not intended to be fired to breast cancer survivor. If you have health insurance, you do not need to lose and can get assistance. ", if you plan to travel during processing, are prepared to bring these notes to the doctor and Mimi Kim along. knew what he wanted and he knew there was going to reduce the cancer is less than the whole person, denied him his civility and, in the context of reach., that would be routine. Ms. Kim went to the home of the first class, and was greeted with cheers.now it is my idea of compliance and appropriate treatment!

Some senior patients for cancer of the breast does not receive full treatment

Women age 66 with metastatic cancer of the breast above do not always get the full range of mastectomy processes. A study done at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston showed that almost half of all women with advanced breast disease do not get radiation therapy after their operation.

Investigators sifted through data from older than 66 38,000 women who have had a mastectomy, between 1999 and 2005, in the group, which had 8 000 patients have Metastatic Breast cancer, but less than 4000 is radiation in addition to surgery. Guidelines as to how radiation shall be placed on women with advanced disease after mastectomy are published during the six years that covered by this study. So experts recognized the benefits of radiation for cancer of the breast, even after removal of the breast-remember that may be affected chest and lymph nodes-but many women do not receive further processing. Dr. Benjamin Smith, co-author of this study, considered the possible reasons behind these results.

Many patients may have been proposed, but decided not to. Before the guidelines were published, most oncologists believe radiation to be ineffective after mastectomy. So the historical affect post-mastectomy radiation may have stood an additional treatment for some women. in other cases, women who are more than 80 years, seems to be least likely to be radiation after surgery of the breast. These patients may consider tradeoffs between quality of life and longevity, and decides that life at the time of the broadcast-plus time-six or more weeks does not seem like the most choice. women may not have lived in close distance to radiation clinic so that light or stay at the hotel during the treatment may not have been an option. Costs of treatment and access to health insurance may also be a factor.

If you have been aged 66 or older with the diagnosis, will want the full spectrum of treatment of advanced breast cancer? or you prefer to stick with the basic surgery and chemotherapy, choosing many patients? What will influence your decision? Please leave your comments below.

Blogger Announces His Own Cancer Death

When I read about Derek Miller, a blogger with colon cancer who had published a post-mortem blog entry announcing his death, I didn't know what to expect. I visited his blog, cleverly titled Pen Machine, and I began reading the words of a man who spoke just as candidly about his death as he did his life. In his final posting "The last post", he talks of the definitive end of life, and the turning of his blog from "an active website into an archive". He tells us of the things he will be missing out on and gives us a glimpse of his life before cancer. His blog is by far the most candid ?I have ever read from a person with cancer.

Derek Miller was only 41 when he died last week. He leaves behind a wife and two young daughters. Take a few minutes to read about Derek's blog and his journey with colon cancer.
